The surprising thing about Distant Healing..

Support for when life feels heavier than it should.

One of the questions I'm asked most often is how distant healing can possibly work when somebody isn't actually sitting in the room with me.

It's a fair question. Most of us are used to thinking that if we need help with something, we have to physically go somewhere, sit in front of someone and have them do whatever it is they do. Healing feels like one of those things that should require people to be in the same place.

And yet some of the most powerful healing sessions I've ever given have happened while somebody was sitting at home on their sofa, wrapped in a blanket, with a cup of tea beside them.

Quite a few people fall asleep as well.

They often apologise afterwards.

Please don't 😂

If you fall asleep during a healing session, I usually take it as a sign that your body probably needed the rest far more than you realised.

Most people don't come because they're interested in healing

Over the years I've noticed that people rarely contact me because they're fascinated by Reiki, energy healing or anything particularly spiritual.

Most people get in touch because something in life feels harder than it should.

They can't switch their mind off.

They're exhausted but keep pushing through.

They're carrying stress, worry or responsibility that never seems to fully leave them.

Or they're going through a difficult period and quietly trying to hold everything together while telling everybody they're fine.

Sometimes they don't even know exactly why they've booked.

One of the things I hear most often is:

"I don't really know why I booked, I just felt drawn to it."

I always find that interesting because those same people have usually spent weeks talking themselves out of booking before finally pressing the button.

Ask me how I know 😂

So what actually happens during a distant healing session?

The honest answer is that every session is a little different because every person is different.

Sometimes we meet on Zoom and talk throughout the session. That allows us to explore what's going on in your life, what you're struggling with, and anything that comes up during the healing itself.

Other people prefer a fully remote session. In that case, I work on your behalf while you stay at home and relax, go for a walk, read a book, have a nap or simply get on with your day.

The healing itself isn't dependent on whether you're sitting in front of me or not.

What matters is the connection.

Over the years I've worked with people all over the UK and beyond, and the distance has never seemed to be the important part.

What do people actually experience?

This is probably the second most common question.

And the answer is always slightly frustrating because everyone experiences it differently.

Some people feel warmth or tingling.

Some become emotional.

Some feel incredibly peaceful.

Some notice very little during the session itself and then realise a few days later that they're sleeping better, worrying less, or feeling calmer about something that had been bothering them.

What I've learned is that healing doesn't always arrive with fireworks and dramatic revelations.

Sometimes it does.

More often, it arrives quietly.

You suddenly realise you're no longer carrying the same level of tension.

A conversation feels easier.

Your mind feels calmer.

You stop replaying the same problem over and over again.

Or you simply feel more like yourself.

Those quieter shifts are often the ones that create the biggest changes over time.

The bit that always makes me smile

I also work with animals remotely and, if I'm being honest, animals are often my easiest clients.

Dogs don't spend twenty minutes wondering whether they're receiving the healing correctly.

Cats don't ask whether they're doing it wrong.

Horses don't need reassurance that they're spiritual enough.

They simply receive what's helpful and carry on being themselves.

Humans could probably learn a thing or two from that.

We're very good at overthinking things.

Myself included.

What I've learned after all these years

After many years of doing this work, I've come to believe that healing isn't really about fixing people.

Most of the people who come to see me aren't broken. They're tired. They're carrying too much.

They're disconnected from themselves and they're trying to make sense of something.

Or they've spent so long looking after everyone else that they've forgotten they need support too.

Healing creates space.

Space to breathe.

Space to hear yourself think.

Space to notice what your body, your emotions and your intuition have been trying to tell you all along.

And sometimes that's enough to change far more than we expect.

Curious?

If life has felt heavier than it should recently, distant healing might be something worth exploring.

You don't need any previous experience, you don't need to understand exactly how it works, and you definitely don't need to leave your sofa. Although I would recommend putting the kettle on first.

Over the years I've worked with people going through all sorts of things, from stress and burnout to grief, illness, major life changes and those periods where life simply feels harder than it should. What I've learned is that people rarely need fixing. More often, they need space, support and a chance to hear themselves again.

If you've been reading this and quietly thinking, "That sounds a bit like me," then perhaps that's reason enough to pay attention.

Most people who book a healing session don't arrive with all the answers. They simply know something feels out of balance and they're ready to stop carrying it on their own.
